Adaware Review – Does Adaware Really Work?
It is manufactured by cybersecurity provider Lavasoft (formerly commonly referred to as Ad-Aware) Adaware is a security program that aims to stop the types of rogue programs and privacy invasions that many consumers aren’t even aware of. This includes programs that path your browsing habits, programs that hijack your browser’s start page and applications that display irritating ads at the most unsettling times. This free software also provides numerous additional features to improve security and keep your device working efficiently.
In our tests, adaware was able to detect most of the malware we tried to throw at it. However, it had a difficult time eliminating certain malware. The program comes with a few useful extras, like a privacy monitor and registry scanner. It also comes with an advanced file shredder, monitoring of networks, and a privacy watch. It’s important to note, however, that Adaware doesn’t provide quite as much security as some of the industry’s leading antivirus tools.
Adaware’s previous participation in AV Test tests in the lab resulted in a blockage of only 95. 4% of 0-day threats and 97% of known threats. These aren’t bad scores but they don’t come close to what the best security suites can accomplish.
Adaware users looking for better performance should look into alternatives. We suggest Kaspersky, Bitdefender and others due to their reliability during real-world testing. Some users might be disappointed that only users of the Pro and Total plans have access to online customer and technical support. The company does provide numerous information and frequently asked questions on its website, however.
